Conclusion
One reference to Easter Island that most people are familiar with is the popular animated television show, "Spongebob Squarepants".  In the show, there is a character named Squidward, whose house resembles the head of a Moai statue.  Another example of references to Easter Islander culture today is Lego's collectable action figure series, Bionicle.  The names that Lego used for the characters came from the language of the Rapa Nui and some other Polynesian languages, which upset many Polynesians when Lego trademarked words from their language, and Lego agreed to stop using the language for commercial purposes.  Japan's popular trading card and video game series, Pokemon, also has some characters that resemble Rapa Nui culture.  Two Pokemon characters, Nosepass and Probopass, were created to resemble Moai statues.  Also, Konami's trading card game Yu-Gi-Oh has some characters that resemble Moai, the cards "The Statue of Easter Island" and "Moai Interceptor Cannons".
